Dr. Joseph P. Laluya, DO, FAAPM&R
Dr. Laluya received his Medical Doctorate from Midwestern University in 1993. Prior to that, he received his Bachelors of Science degree from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in Psychology and a minor degree in Biology. Dr. Laluya completed his residency in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago serving as chief resident in 1997 and received his fellowship in Sports Medicine at the University of Illinois in 1998. Dr. Laluya has been board-certified in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation and serves as a fellow in the American Academy of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation since 2000.
Dr. Laluya is co-medical director of Excel Occupational Health Clinic (EOHC) and assistant professor of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation in the department of Family Medicine at the University of Illinois in Chicago, Illinois. He also serves as an academic clinical instructor for the Sports Medicine Fellowship program through the Department of Orthopaedics at the University of Illinois in Chicago and teaches residents in the Department of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago, Illinois.
Dr. Laluya’s interests include musculoskeletal and sports medicine. He is also a practicing electromyographer since 1997 with a specific emphasis on compressive neuropathies. Dr. Laluya is a board-certified Medical Review Officer (MRO) through the American College of Occupational and Environmental Medicine. Dr. Laluya was chosen as one of the “best doctors in America” in 2010 based on surveys of his peers in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation. Dr. Laluya is a member of numerous national societies and served as president of the Chicago Sports Medicine Society in 1998.
A former college athlete, Dr. Laluya serves as team physician for several local high schools overseeing athletic-trainer activities and providing sideline medical coverage for football. He possesses a particular interest in running and related injury, working with local runners and world-class athletes including individuals from the United States Track & Field team.
Dr. Laluya has served as a medical consultant covering various sporting events such as the Chicago Distance Classic, North Shore half marathon, Chicago marathon, Mrs. T’s triathlon and Hustle up the Hancock.
Dr. Edward J. Pillar, DO, FAAPM&R
Dr. Pillar completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign receiving a Bachelors of Science degree in Psychology and a minor degree in Biology. He received his Medical Doctorate from Midwestern University in 1993 and completed a Family Medicine internship in the Chicago Osteopathic Medical Center’s system. Dr. Pillar completed his residency in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation at Rush University Medical Center where he also served as chief resident.
Dr. Pillar is co-medical director of Excel Occupational Health Clinic (EOHC) and has served in this position since the clinic’s inception in 2001. Prior to co-founding EOHC he worked with post-surgical and injury related cases in an inpatient rehabilitation program here in Chicago. He also founded a prosthetics and orthotics clinic for patients with limb amputation or dysfunction prior to devoting his practice to occupational and musculoskeletal medicine on a full-time basis.
Dr. Pillar is board certified in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation and has been a fellow of the American Academy of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation since 1999. He is also certified as a Medical Review Officer (MRO) and is a practicing electromyographer. He is involved with baseball and soccer programs and has an avid interest in sports and musculoskeletal medicine.
